Welcome to the Myddelton Arms
A 15th-century half-timbered inn that sits on St Peter’s Square in Ruthin.
Our latest addition to the group is a quirky yet charming building with various rooms over 4 levels. The Myddelton Arms has been a pub in the heart of Ruthin for centuries, most recently being the 'Myddetlon Grill on the Square'. She has stood the test of time and we hope that with a lot..... With lots of knooks and crannies as well as leaning walls, crooked staircases and angled beams then we thought it was the perfect choice for our next challenge.
Affectionately known by locals as the “Seven Eyes” due to its striking roofline, with seven dormer windows. Having stood for centuries, this historic landmark now enters a new chapter as it joins Stange & Co, becoming the latest addition to the group.
Over the years, the building has evolved considerably. Originally a single pub called The Castle Arms, but around the 1600s Sir Hugh Myddelton a local dignitary from a prominent family in the Vale of Clwyd acquired and renamed the pub, the Myddelton Arms. When the Myddeltons then came to own the Castle Hotel next door they combined the buildings, and only recently did it become an individual pub again. The building has been through many names and custodians over the years, the pub was most recently rebranded as the “Myddelton Grill” but sadly closed in 2024.
